Delicate brass leaves are neatly gilded on a piece of washi paper by hands, to make them easier to handle.
A brass leaf is an alloy of copper and zinc.
It has been imported from the mid MEIJI era, and is also called Shinchuhaku or Tandohaku. Maru haku- Round Gold Leaf, Not square.

As well as a canvas for creation, it can be used as wallpaper.
