Gilding workshop on the 9th of August- The Day of Ha(8) Ku (9), Metallic Leaves- is happening again! This year we have a special guest, Shimada Doll Atelier who is giving us a talk on traditional doll making and teaching us how to gild a Manekineko Doll, a beck-docking cat statue.

Have you ever worked with genuine gold leaves? Our gilding workshop is an opportunity for you to get in touch with this unique craft material. 

This year we are gilding Manekineko Dolls, beckoning cat statues, hand-crafted by Shimada Koenn Doll Atelier, a popular doll craftsman.

He is giving us a special talk on the traditional craft with 164 years of family history and teaching us how to gild the dolls.
