What's Imitation Metal Powder
With the recent rise in the price of pure gold, there has been much demand to substitute gold powder that is made from other metals, such as brass powder, aluminum, and copper. This is a special article about Shizendo's specialized product gold powder.
Imitation Metal Powde
Imitation or substitute metal powder is a more affordable replacement for gold powder rather than pure gold, platinum, and silver. Generally, the usage of this powder is the same as the real one such as in paintings and maki-e, or just like gold leaf for paintings and crafts.
There are three types of substitutes for pure gold powder.
In terms of color, the red brass powder is reddish, the blue brass powder is blueish, and the shine closest to pure gold is yellow brass powder, which has a color similar to pure gold powder 23K
In terms of usage, the yellow brass is particularly suitable for watercolor painting and maki-e.)

Anti-Discoloration metal powders
The copper, zinc, and silver will oxidize and change color as they are because the metal itself changes over time. In contrast, we also have an “anti-discoloration” metal powder that has been specially manufactured to prevent discoloration.
